The formal opening of SCB took place on 9 September 2017, in the presence of Ms Hilde Crevits, Vice Minister-President of the Flemish Government and Flemish Minister for Education.
SCB Chairman Kurt Deketelaere gave an introduction to the vision, mission and activities of SCB.
Honorary Ambassador Baron Johan Swinnen gave a keynote presentation on “Sustainable development and the role of research and teaching institutions”.
Dr Jos Delbeke (Director-General DG Climate Action, European Commission) gave some reflections from a European perspective.
Ms Minou Esquenet (Alderwoman for Social Economy of the City of Bruges) gave some reflections from a local perspective.
